Summer Bandstands - Creative Mile Weekend 31 August & 1 September

The Friends of Watermans Park free-to-attend Summer Bandstands season continues over the Creative Mile weekend on Saturday 31 August & Sunday 1 September from 3pm to 5pm in Watermans Park with “time” themed music.

The line-up on Saturday 31 August will feature:

Elaine Samuels - Elaine has been performing her own songs in clubs, at festivals and even on television since the early 1990s. She progressed from only playing solo to performing in other line-ups too. Her electrifying prog folk rock band Kindred Spirit provides the fullest expression of her own, powerful material with her "haunting and beautiful" vocals and rhythm guitar.

Steve Hutchinson – is London's late bloomer.  Melodic soft rocker Steve Hutchinson started his music career later than most - 50 to be precise! But he's been making up for lost time, fronting the UK's premier Moody Blues tribute band for 7 years and, since 2014, releasing 5 solo albums. Described by Moody Blues Legend Ray Thomas as having "a great voice", Steve is that rare combination - a singer who will touch your heart with songs that will stir your soul.

Compound Radius - an alternative original rock band from Hounslow. Formed in 2021, Compound Radius comprises up to five passionate musicians, each bringing their unique flair to their eclectic sound.  Their music is a fusion of various genres and influences, creating a dynamic blend that draws inspiration from rock, metal, alternative rock, funk, folk, soul, electronica, and even elements of world music and Sanskrit mantras.  Their songs transcend linguistic and cultural boundaries incorporating English, Bengali, and Sanskrit into their lyrics, adding an additional layer of depth and richness to their music.

The line-up on Sunday 1 September will feature:

Danny Beaton - is an American now living and performing in London. After playing in bands in High School, he trained as an actor in New York City. Nothing brings him joy quite like watching people connect with one another while he plays singalongs in pubs, parks, and parties.

Gary Brooker - from first strum of his guitar to his love for Brit Pop and Indie Rock, Gary’s musical career was born. He will be performing original material acoustically.

Andrea Black - with 10 albums to her credit, Andrea's music continues to inspire audiences defining her as cross-genre artist with a unique and distinct style on guitar, woven by her unmistakeable dynamic vocals. Andrea is proud and thrilled to announce her new vinyl release Harvest Gold on that iconic major label PYE Records on 6th September 2024.

Edwin Addis will host the Summer Bandstands. Edwin has written and recorded a theme tune for the park - A Walk Through Watermans Park (Come Out to Play) which he'll be sure to perform.

For those with a sweet tooth snacks will be available from Cookie Jar on Saturday and ABOL Coffee on Sunday.

As Guy Lambert recently posted on social media: “Concert started in Watermans Park. Canvas roof, rugs, deck chairs, all mod cons, free. Good music, good company. What's not to like?” The Friends encourage you to come and see for yourself over the Creative Mile weekend between 3pm and 5pm.
