The Friends AGM will be held on 7 June 2023 at 7pm at Studio Flox, Ground Floor, Watermans Park Office Building, 44a High Street, Brentford, TW8 0DS. It’s a meeting open to all and access is from the Watermans Arts Centre car park and Smith Hill.
Immediately following the formal business of the AGM, Janet McNamara will be giving a talk about Brentford inspired by Samuel Leigh’s wonderful 1829 “Panorama of the Thames”. Janet is a Local Historian, Heritage Guide and a Friend.
The full panorama shows the river from Westminster Bridge to Richmond Hill, covering a fifteen mile stretch. It was a guide designed to be used by tourists as they steamed up the Thames on their aquatic excursions, allowing them to identify the houses and occupants as they went past. Janet will be focussing on the Brentford section and giving rich details of the householders and businesses depicted, a history that makes the town so special.
It would be helpful to know how many people will attend so please reserve your place for Janet’s talk here.
Papers for the AGM will be distributed towards the end of May.

In other news, the Friends will be holding a series of music events in the park on Saturday afternoons in July, if you would like to help please let me know. We’ll have more details available at our AGM.
best regards, Philip
